ASPC 2017 Annual and Corporate Social Responsibility Report Awards Call for Entries

The American Society of Professional Communicators is currently accepting entries for the 2017 ASPC Annual and Corporate Social Responsibility Report (CSR) Awards competition.

The ASPC Annual and CSR Report Awards competition recognizes outstanding achievement in annual and CSR report production. It is an opportunity to honor excellence in writing, design, photography and financial presentation, as well as online availability and features.

For many years, corporations, not-for-profits and civic groups have produced annual reports as a record of their organizations’ performance, accomplishments and strategic direction relative to shareholder and other stakeholders’ expectations. In more recent decades, investors, customers, business partners, community leaders and environmental activists have called on companies and other organizations to document in transparent and verifiable ways their commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.

For nearly 20 years, the ASPC’s Annual Report Awards competition has served as one of the most-respected programs in the industry honoring excellence in the art of annual report communications. More than 300 of the world's largest and smallest companies, most-impactful nonprofits, and most-effective public-sector agencies have been honored through the years. And in 2016, we were proud to expand our program to include CSR reports, as they have become a critical vehicle by which communicators tell the story of not just what an organization does, but how it benefits the communities it serves and the wider world.

Winners of the 2017 ASPC Annual and CSR Report Awards in each category and in each revenue class will receive a plaque signifying their achievements. The ASPC awards committee also may bestow the ASPC Colonial Award for Excellence or a certificate of honorable mention upon other exceptional entries.

Additionally, the ASPC is again offering an optional written critique of submitted reports. These in-depth critiques of at least 10 pages in length are prepared by professional communicators with at least a decade of experience creating annual and CSR reports. Since the program's inception, approximately 25 percent of participants have elected to receive written critiques. Critiques examine each report by the contest categories and provide comparative analysis against current trends and best practices. In light of ongoing economic headwinds, the ASPC is offering this service this year at a reduced rate of $550. Participation in the written critique and analysis program in no way affects competition judging. This year, to ensure the timely return of critiques, only the first 60 requests for written critiques will be accepted.

The deadline for entries for the 2017 ASPC Annual and CSR Report Awards competition is Friday, September 29, 2017 (Deadline Extended to Friday, October 13, 2017). Participants who enter both their annual and CSR reports for judging will receive a 20 percent discount off their total entry fees.
